Bamboo Forest and Mother Oak Garden
Light filtered through a thousand stems
Weave through a living collection of green, yellow, black-striated, helicopter, and zigzag bamboos — each variety distinct, and together, otherworldly — and arrive at the eldest tree on our land: Mother Oak. At an estimated 250 years old, she commands her corner with her younger sister standing close by. Beneath her canopy, Pieris, red camellias, and white azaleas bloom from February through June. Behind her, a protective whitethorn stands sentinel. This is a place to slow down — to sit at the trunk of Mother Oak and simply be.
